How I work

Four steps, the same every time, whatever the project. For each one I’ll tell you what I do, what I need from you, and what you end up with.

1. Audit: I look first

I crawl your site, read your Search Console data and look at who’s ahead of you on the searches that matter. No proposals until I’ve seen how things actually stand.

From you
From you: your site address, read-only Search Console access if you have it, and ten minutes to tell me who your customers are.
You get
You get: a clear picture of where you stand.

2. Plan: what to do, in what order

I turn what I found into a list of tasks, ranked by impact and cost. Some things are worth doing now, some are never worth doing, and I’ll tell you which is which.

From you
From you: a decision on what to do, what to leave for later, and the budget.
You get
You get: a written plan and a quote for the part you choose.

3. Work: I fix, write, publish

I do what we agreed, nothing more. If I find something along the way that changes the priorities, I ask first and act second.

From you
From you: the access I need, and a few answers when I’m writing about your trade.
You get
You get: the work done, plus a list of everything I touched.

4. Report: what’s changed

At the end of the job, or every month on an ongoing service: what I did, what the data says, what comes next. SEO results are measured over time, so the report also tells you what’s still too early to judge.

From you
From you: read it. One page, I promise.
You get
You get: real numbers, explained in plain English.

And things I don’t do

  • Promise positions on Google.
  • Buy links from site networks.
  • Write or buy reviews.
  • Touch your site without telling you.
  • Send you a thirty-page report to look busy.

Who’s behind it

Spy SEO Tools is one person: me. The person who writes your quote is the person who does the work and answers the phone. No hand-offs, no "I’ll get a colleague to call you back".

I work from Sarissola, part of Busalla, in the Scrivia Valley, about half an hour north of Genoa. I work in English and Italian.

The name comes from my favourite part of the job: working out what the competitors ahead of you on Google are doing. The "spy" is about paying attention. There’s no trench coat.

Where I work

In person in the Scrivia Valley and Genoa. Remotely, anywhere.

Not on the list? No problem. Video calls, email and phone work anywhere.

Shall we start with step one?
