Where these numbers come from

None of these are official Google rules. They’re practical guidelines based on how the results look today.

  • Title: 30–60 characters, about 580 px. Under 30 usually wastes space. Over 580 px gets cut on desktop.
  • Description: 70–155 characters, about 920 px. Under 70, Google replaces it more often. Over 920 px gets cut.
  • Pixels over characters. If the two verdicts disagree, trust the pixels.
  • Keyword: once, near the start, is best. Three times is too many.
  • Brand: once, usually at the end, unless your name is already what people search for.
